Description
Beamsplitters are also called splitter plates or beam-splitting plates; coating manufacturers call the film a beamsplitter coating. The all-dielectric type is made by alternating Ta2O5/SiO2 vacuum coating; the metal-plus-dielectric type (also called an attenuator) considers only the transmitted ratio and typically uses chromium or nickel-chromium alloy with dielectric or diamond-like coating for durability. The higher the reflectivity of the splitting film, the harder it is to produce. Standard ratios: 99:1, 98:2, 95:5, 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40, 50:50. Fields of use: UV inspection and production equipment, general optical instruments, fingerprint biometric detectors, digital imaging, laser control systems and optical communication instruments. Advantages: no double image, no ghost, no stray light, high splitting accuracy, clean cutting.
